Hi! I'm JL and I'm so happy you're here.

WJLD By Design was born from a deep connection with the practice of metalsmithing, a love for turquoise and a lifelong affinity with the desert. I have a growing interest in all things slow and small-scale, and my dream with WJLD By Design is to create beautiful, heirloom quality pieces of jewellery that capture the essence of what inspires me and bring joy to their owner. Each piece I offer for sale is hand-made, unique and created to last.

When I'm not tending to my plants or planning my next cycling expedition, you'll find me honing my metalsmithing skills in my studio in Trafalgar in Gippsland, Victoria - traditional lands of the Gunaikurnai people.

Environmental Considerations

I would love to create all my pieces using only recycled silver/metals, however at this point in time despite countless hours of research and phone calls, I have not been able to find any reliable suppliers of 100% recycled silver based in Australia. Where available I do source as much recycled material as I can, I am careful to minimise waste and collect offcuts for recycling, and I'm constantly trying to think of designs that utilise my scraps. All the packaging I use is selected with the environment in mind - including using little to no plastic, recycled paper goods where possible, natural twine and compostable mailers.

By creating high-quality items that should last a lifetime, it is my hope that WJLD By Design pieces present a cherished alternative to mass-produced jewellery.
